ALBRIGHT'S QUADRUPLE BOTTOM LINE
Two years ago, as the first company ever, Albright introduced the concept: "The Quadruple Bottom Line."
The Quadruple Bottom Line is rooted in the premise that companies across the globe are dependent on the broad existence of peace, freedom and democracy in our world to remain sustainable. Every time these three variables are threatened, drastic imbalances in supply and demand emerges.
Numerous studies point to the fact that the existence of peace is critical to the well-being of companies as high peace nations - as opposed to low peace nations - have significantly lower inflation levels and interest rates, higher consumer consumption and access to foreign direct investments.
For companies to remain sustainable it is no longer enough to focus on Profit, People & Planet. A fourth dimension is missing from the equation - and it is Peace.
THE QUADRUPLE BOTTOM LINE - EXPLAINED
The QUADRUPLE BOTTOM LINE is a construct adding a new and unique fourth bottom line - PEACE - to the well-known triple bottom line (Profit, People, Planet).
The triple bottom line is a business concept that first saw the day of light in 1997. The concept posits firms should commit to measuring their social and environmental impact—in addition to their financial performance—rather than solely focusing on generating profit, or the standard “bottom line.” It was broken down into: PROFIT (financial bottom line), PEOPLE (social bottom line), and PLANET (environmental bottom line), and to be a sustainable company, one must balance this trinity.
However, at Albright, we believe that in order for enterprises to remain sustainable, we must add a fourth bottom line factor to the triple bottom line:, i.e. PEACE.
Therefore we commit ourselves to introduce initiatives that will contribute to securing peace, freedom and democracy in our world.
